Aarhus – the City of Smiles

Located just an hour away from the conference city of Herning, Aarhus is the second biggest city in Denmark and also one of the oldest. It is referred to as ‘The City of Smiles’ and we want to show you exactly why.

So come experience a day in the city of Aarhus on June 3^rd, the day before the official opening of the EC2025 conference. 

In 2017 Aarhus was the culture capital of Europe and whether you are into business, tourism or local cuisine, we’ve got you covered!The two local JCI chapters in Aarhus will be your personal guides and show how business and tourism go hand in hand with a walking tour of the city. 

Pre-tour program:

• 10:00 - Meet up and check in at Aarhus train station before walking to our first location
• 10:30 - Company visit at TRÆ. TRÆ is Denmark’s tallest wooden building made from recycled materials. Here we will hear about the details of the concept and construction
• 11:45 - Walking tour to Salling Rooftop

• 12:30 – Lunch at Salling Rooftop. A spectacular urban space with a magnificent 360-degree panoramic view of the entire city

• 13:30 - Walk to the city centre and The Latin Quarter. Here you can enjoy some free time, the cobblestone streets, Aarhus Cathedral or visit small local shops 
• 16:00 – Company visit at INCUBA. A science park and a professional community for knowledge-intensive startups, spinouts, scaleups and corporates in an exciting environment that also includes investors, mentors, researchers, students and business specialists
• 17:00 – Walk to Aarhus Ø, an Island where a local architect will provide insights of the design behind modern Danish urban architecture
• 19:00 – Dinner at local restaurant where we will enjoy some local cuisine
• 20:30 – Networking and drinks at a bar close by (drinks not included in ticket price) or time by yourself.
• 22:00 Pick up by bus from Aarhus Ø (Island) and transport to the conference city of Herning if you have booked the ticket with transport (drop off at Herning Messecenter)

Included in ticket: lunch, dinner, company visits, drinking water and some snacks during the day, bus transport from Aarhus to Herning when the day is done if you have chosen this when buying your ticket.

Not included in ticket: Transport to Aarhus, drinks during lunch, dinner and at the final bar, entry or other fees to activities not mentioned in the program.

Visits

Our day starts at Aarhus Central station where we will meet up before we head out into the city on foot. You can arrive by train, bus or car. If you plan to use public transport, you can plan your trip here. If you arrive with your luggage, we will provide safe storage so you don’t need to carry it with you all day.

During the day, we will visit a couple of local companies to learn about Danish innovation and work culture.

TRÆ(translates to "Tree")

Denmark's tallest wooden building and a stunning example of sustainable architecture.
